Night Fishing in Biscayne Bay, Miami Tarpon & Snook Fishing Charters
We have been night fishing for Snook and Tarpon in Biscayne Bay, Miami for years, and this year is no exception. As the water begins to warm, and the bait begins to spawn and develop, it's that time of year again!
If you are trying to beat the heat, night fishing has its obvious advantages. Snook and tarpon are very active on most nights, and the cover of darkness is in our favor. These grass flat giants provide an amazing fight on light tackle, and both species are a delight on the barbecue grill!
Tarpon and snook have many similarities and distinctions. Both species feed on live bait such as, ale wives (LY's), crabs, croaker, pinfish, shrimp, and just about anything else that is not hiding in Biscayne Bay.
The Florida Tarpon - Megalops Atlanticus - has been given quite the appropriate scientific name. Megalops actually refers to larval crabs about to enter the adult phase of life but, the word "Mega" fits the Tarpon well! Tarpon grow to reach a length between 4 and 8 feet, and weigh in at 60–280 lbs. Now that's a "Mega" fish!
Snook - Centropomus Undecimalis - do not reach the size of the giant Tarpon however, they are a very large fish for such shallow inshore waters. Snook are commonly caught up to 2 feet in length but, can grow to reach lengths in excess of 4 feet!
If you are looking to do some fishing while vacationing in Miami, or even if you are local, and simply need a night out on the water, Captain Alex of Miami Inshore Charters is one of the best fishing guides in the Miami area!

We fished with Capt. Alex on 10/22/16. He was friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and helpful! We've never been to Florida, let alone fished their waters, so we didn't know what to expect. Capt. Alex answered all our questions, and made sure we enjoyed ourselves and most importantly caught come fish! We felt like we were fishing with an old friend. In our time with Capt. Alex we caught 3 bonnet head sharks, at least 2 grunt fish, and at least 3 mutton snappers. One of the mutton snappers was pretty big too! He also offered sunscreen, drinks, and snacks if we wanted them. Fishing with Capt. Alex was one of the best choices we made on our trip, and was well worth the money. I'd recommend him to anyone!
Capt. Alex, Thank you for four wonderful trips. We fished the entire Biscayne Bay and Flamingo. You are professional, personable, and altogether awesome. You put us on plenty of fish and lobster. But more than your knowledge and obvious abilities on the water, perhaps your greatest quality is patience. I cannot begin to tell you the amount of joy my wife and I experienced watching you teach and explain things to our kids. You are an unmistakable part of our memories. I really hope to hook up again soon. All the best, Larry
Had such a great time fishing with Captain Alex! He was so patient with my little 11 year old brother and very laid back. He definitely knew what he was doing and was way better than any other fishing experience I've had. He knows all the good spots and showed us a great time. Thanks so much Alex!
We fished with Capt. Alex on 12/17/14 in the Ten Thousand Islands leaving out of Port of the Islands Marina located between Naples and Everglades City. The day's catch included red fish, black drum, spotted sea trout, snook and mangrove snapper. The boat was roomy and comfortable enough to fish 4 people. It was a great day. We look forward to fishing with Capt. Alex again soon.
I had the best time in Miami fishing with these guys. I went along with a friend and I was indeed a unique and memorable experience. I enjoyed every second of it. Thanks guys, this will surely be an experience I will never forget.
