Catching Yellow Jacks, Mutton Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Barracudas, and some Grouper

I have been on the water quite a bit since my last report and I am happy to say “The bait is finally hear.” The pilchards are starting to make an appearance in Biscayne Bay and by October they should be everywhere. This is one of my favorite times of the year to fish because when you can load the livewell with bait it almost always guarantees non stop action. During our recent day trips we have been able to find the bait and catch it and have had no problem finding some fish willing to eat it. We have been catching some nice Yellow Jacks, Mutton Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Barracudas, and some Grouper. The Yellow Jacks have been ranging from 5-10lbs and the Mutton Snapper have been between 16-20 inches. But as we get closer to October the bigger fish will show up and the fun will really begin. At night were are still catching Snook and Tarpon along with some Sharks mixed in. Most of the Snook have been in the slot range of 28-32 inches, but we have caught some fish over 20lbs. Most of the Tarpon are on the small side right now but when the mullet run finally reaches Miami there will be some big fish not to far behind. October is one of the best months to be fishing anywhere in Florida but especially in Miami so don’t hesitate and BOOK YOUR TRIP TODAY!!
